Emergency lighting systems are designed to operate when the main lighting fails providing adequate lighting in order to safely evacuate the building. It is a legal requirement that emergency lights are maintained on a regular basis in accordance with BS EN 5266.
In addition to user responsibilities, the responsible person is required to appoint a competent person to carry out a bi-annual and annual testing of all emergency lighting installed.
